At some point, every writer hits a wall. Doubt, uncertainty, even depression come calling. And you need a reliable source of positivity to pick you back up. I've found note cards are the easiest way to keep me going.

If writing were easy, everyone would do it, right?
Finding Your Tribe: The Fun of Cons
All work and no play turns writers into robots - and not in a good way. You need to get out and have some fun now and then. You also need to network with other people of a like mind. So why not combine the two and find a convention that appeals to the secret fandoms (or not-so-secret fandoms) of your brilliant mind? Cons are the perfect way to recharge that writing brain of yours.
Why You Need Comics in Your Life
As a writer (reader), you're spoiled for choice when you hit the book store or library. And each time you visit you NEED to pick something unrelated to work. That keeps your brain healthy. And if you haven't wandered to the comics section, it's high time you started.
Why Pins Make Your Life Better
Not everyone's big on carrying around glaring signs of individuality. But you'd still like to break out of your shell and tuck pieces of yourself SOMEWHERE. When you feel overwhelmed by life, you need to find something to turn to to express your personal message. And Pins do the trick perfectly. Yes, pins - those little bits of colorful metal you can attach - well, anywhere.
Writing R&R
Who doesn't love a break from work? (Okay, so plenty of workaholics abhor it) Even a day can rejuvenate your mind and body. Freelancers, in particular, need to step away from their assignments, breathe, and remember what the outside world looks like. Or, you know, decide to go stark raving mad.
Stick To It
Everyone sets up their work space their way. There's nothing wrong with that. You need a spot that generates the creative juices. For me, that means stickers that speak to my personality and add punches of fun to the technology surrounding me. Because life's way too short for a bunch of black boxes.
“Silenzio Bruno!”
Sure, living in your imagination sounds great. And - most of the time - it IS. But there are downsides to bouncing around in made-up scenarios. And one of them is when your doubts and insecurities gang up on you. You need to learn how to stand up to them. Who knew something as simple as a line in a movie could provide the answer?
An Unfinished Symphony
Quarantine led to a boom in the home improvement realm. After all, everyone's spent PLENTY of time at home. And there's only so much television you can binge-watch. Most people consider working on their house an annoyance. But me? It's therapeutic.
Surrounded in Comfort
I hate the phrase, "Act like an adult." Adults are boring, stuffy, and annoying. I prefer that people act like themselves. And it that means collecting toys or stuffed animals - so be it.
Fill in the Blank
I don't think anyone out there denounces coloring as strictly for children anymore (if you do - SHAME). However, I think people overlook the potential it has for anyone in a creative field. You literally go into a zen state! Your creative mind gets an electric jolt! It's the perfect outlet for everyone.
