Lore Olympus: Volume Three by Rachel Smythe

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Am I ever going to grow tired of Ms. Smythe’s brilliant take on mythology? Of course not. And this volume is precisely why. Naturally, I adore the relationship between Persephone and Hades, but this time she incorporated additional storylines to flesh out the story further. (And kept me turning pages even as my brain demanded sleep)

I was worried Persephone would remain stagnant as a character, but she started to grow and find her footing. And it’s perfect! I always resented the original myth, finding the goddess of spring weak in the tale, and someone hardly worthy of mention. But Ms. Smythe has given her the beginnings of a spine and an origin that leaves you demanding more – and more (and MORE!). And the revelation with Eros was handled with such supreme delicacy. I applaud Ms. Smythe and her ability to navigate such an emotional landmine.

Everything weaves together so seamlessly – the delicate threads of a tapestry. And the only pang of pain is the months between each perfect volume.
