Review of Sword Art Online: Girls’ Ops Volume 7

Sword Art Online: Girls’ Ops, Vol. 7 by Neko Nekobyou

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

How long’s it been since the last volume? (Long enough I needed a refresher on the plotline) No disrespect to Kawahara-san, but these gaps are murder on a reader!

The blending of Norse mythology into the ALO/SAO stories works differently with this branching of the world. No, it isn’t the first time Kawahara-san combined the two but suggesting a “ghost” element of the old player data adds a level of intrigue. (One that, ironically, lends itself to the Alicization story arc. You have to wonder if it was done intentionally)

And, of course, who doesn’t love getting to see Argo? She’s one of the best “secondary” characters created in the world – one who doesn’t receive nearly enough focus. It’ll be interesting to see where the next volume leads. Assuming, of course, it doesn’t take another year for the book to hit the shelves. (I understand the need for translations, but Japanese isn’t THAT difficult!)

I speak the thoughts rattling around in my brain, sharing topics I think other people want and should hear (or are afraid to talk about themselves). I bring my personality and quirky state of mind to everything I write; serious topics shouldn't be devoid of humor. That includes my blog and freelance work (part of my charm). I've been writing for as long as I can remember. It's a source of solace and enjoyment for me. I'm lucky enough to call what I love my career - so it's NOT work! I live in Virginia with the Minions (four cats and a Greyhound) and my wonderful husband, who ensures I stay fed - no cereal for dinner - and as close to sane as I can get.
